Paws & Play Center Website

This website for Paws & Play Center, a conceptual dog daycare, dog boarding, and dog spa services facility, was designed to make dog boarding, spa, and daycare services easy to access and obtain. Designed for mobile, tablet, and desktop formats, this interactive website was created to meet the user experience (UX) needs of customers looking for these services for their pets.

Phase 1: User Personas
and Site Planning

The first phase of designing the Paws & Play Center website involved determining who this site would be designed for, how it will meet their needs, and according to those answers, what features should be included in this website.

The first part of this phase involved creating user personas, or creating profiles of fictional people who would represent the typical audience for this website.

Once I outlined these users and determined what their needs were, I mapped out  the essential features of the
Paws & Play Center website through mind maps, card sorting, and a diagram of the site's information architecture.

Phase 2: Sketches, Wireframes, and Branding

Once the features for this website were determined, I planned the layout and content of the site's various pages through sketches and wireframes. Beginning with the mobile version of the Paws & Play Center website, I created drafts of the various screens that users will interact with. Later on, these mobile layouts would be translated into tablet and desktop page formats.

Also, I created the visual elements of the Paws & Play Center brand: as this business would provide a positive and welcoming experience for dogs, I created an upbeat and friendly visual style for this brand's logo and design elements.

Phase 3: Rough Drafts of Screens

After the layout, content, and branding for this website's pages were established, I created rough drafts of several screens: as this website was designed from a mobile-first approach, these mobile screen drafts would become the basis for the final mobile , tablet, and desktop screen designs.

While these drafts established my initial concept for this site's mobile navigation, I decided that I would revise this by simplifying it to three items instead of four, and having the website's logo serve as a Home page link instead.

As shown in my digital wireframes, my mobile screen rough drafts all used a single column format, to eliminate the need for horizontal scrolling on narrow screens.

Phase 4: Final Website Pages

Finally, once the rough drafts of screens were revised, I created the final webpage designs for the Paws & Play Center. Featuring a simpler navigation for vertical mobile and tablet screens, these final pages were updated to provide an easy and simple user experience for those looking for dog daycare, boarding, and spa services.

Ultimately, the tablet and desktop versions of this website remain consistent to the mobile version in terms of the overall content, and visual style that is featured.

In these final webpage designs, some slight alterations were made for horizontal screens: these include adding columns to page content, and changing the style and placement of the web page navigation.
